Want an alternative to a hamburger or turkey burger? This pork and bacon burger is moist, smokey, and delicious.
Ingredients:
- One pound ground pork.
- Two strips thick cut bacon, diced.
- One tablespoon of your favorite dry spice mix.
- 1 teaspoon each garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 shallot, finely minced (optional)
- 1 egg
- Sliced cheese (optional)
In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients together. Use your hands, don’t be afraid. When the meat and spices are thoroughly mixed, divide the mixture into four even-sized balls. On a cutting board, mash the meat balls down with your hands into four patties about 3/4″ thick.
On a hot grill or grill pan cook the pork burger thoroughly, approximately 5 minutes on each side. FLIP ONLY ONCE! None of that flippy-floppy nonsense. If you want, add a slice of cheese to the patty and cover with a pot lid for the last minute of cooking.
I like my pork burger on a Trader Joe’s honey wheat hamburger bun with aioli, Dijon mustard, and onion confit.
Enjoy!
